Heritage Narrative

Since its debut in 1945, the Rolex Air-King has honored the spirit of aviation with clean design and precise functionality. Originally built as a pilot’s companion, the model has evolved into a modern classic, balancing tool-watch robustness with distinctive styling. The reference 116900, launched in 2016, marked a bold new chapter for the line, with its larger 40 mm case, green seconds hand, and prominent numerals inspired by cockpit instruments.

This September 2020 example, reference 116900, features a stainless steel case and Oyster bracelet, black dial with luminous markers, and sapphire crystal. Powered by the Rolex calibre 3131, it combines chronometer-certified accuracy with magnetic resistance thanks to a soft iron shield — technology borrowed from the Milgauss. Offered in mint condition and accompanied by its full set of box and papers, it represents one of the most distinctive and contemporary expressions of the Air-King’s legacy.
