Heritage Narrative

This particular watch was assembled in 1969 with a movement that officially launched in 1970—making it a pre-production rarity and an important snapshot in Omega’s history. At a time when Omega sought to rival the era’s top dive and racing chronographs, they developed a new tonneau-shaped stainless-steel case paired with a rich matte-blue dial. Inside beats the now-legendary Calibre 1040, a modified Lemania 1340 and the world’s first automatic chronograph to run at 28,800 vph. Its central-minutes register ensures quick, precise tracking of elapsed time, while a 24-hour indicator aids those whose missions extend past a single day. Newly serviced by Omega and backed by a 24-month service warranty, this extraordinary example blends vintage design with modern reliability, preserving a singular moment in Swiss watchmaking when 1960s innovation led seamlessly into 1970s engineering.
