Heritage Narrative

Introduced in 1962, the Rolex Submariner 5513 became one of the most enduring and influential dive watches in history. Loved for its simplicity, durability, and functional purity, the 5513 is the quintessential no-date Submariner and a cornerstone of Rolex’s tool-watch heritage.

This 1965 example hails from the early matte-dial era, a period that collectors prize for its clean typography, painted tritium markers, and the unmistakable vintage character that only mid-1960s Rolex can offer. Unlike later sapphire-equipped models, these early Submariners were built with a softer, warmer aesthetic that remains instantly recognizable.

This particular piece features a mineral crystal and has been paired with a leather strap, giving it a more understated, vintage-worn aesthetic compared to the traditional Oyster bracelet configuration. While not in its factory presentation, the core of the watch—its dial, case, proportions, and presence—remains every bit the iconic 5513 formula.
