Heritage Narrative
Introduced in 1959, the Rolex GMT-Master 1675 became one of the most recognizable and enduring icons in watchmaking history. Developed in collaboration with Pan American World Airways, it was designed for pilots crossing multiple time zones — with its 24-hour hand and rotating bezel allowing simultaneous tracking of two or even three time zones. The 1675 remained in production for over two decades, making it one of the longest-running Rolex references and a cornerstone of the brand’s heritage.
This example, serial 287XXXX from circa 1970, features the coveted Mark I “Long E” matte dial, easily identified by the extended middle stroke of the “E” in Rolex and its beautiful tritium patina. The watch retains its original red and blue “Pepsi” aluminum bezel insert, showcasing the kind of gentle fading collectors prize. Housed in a 40 mm stainless steel Oyster case and powered by the Calibre 1570 GMT movement, this piece delivers Rolex’s hallmark precision and reliability. Offered in excellent condition and accompanied by box and booklet, it represents one of the purest and most collectible expressions of the vintage GMT-Master lineage.
